What will you play this weekend? (December 17)

Chained Echoes will be my game of choice for the coming weeks – I’ve only been in a few hours but it Actually good. The plot moves at a fast pace and the battle has enough wrinkles that it makes the old-school turn-based combat system fresh. Honestly, nothing feels more cozy and festive to me than curling up with an SNES-style RPG.

And, even though I should have bought someone else a present, I bought the Lil Gator Game for myself so I’ll probably start it later this week. I think my love of crocodiles is well documented (Totodile, Krookodile, Skeledirge) and I needed something a little more wholesome than some of the Chained Echoes events.

With news of dead aground 2 from The Game Awards, I fired up my old PS4 this week trying to get it final finish the first game. Aside from having to relearn all the controls from scratch and get carried away by BT left, right and center, I still had a good time with it and am excited to play more.

In the world of Switch, who knows what the weekend will bring? I’ve recently completed all of my current finds – just in time for the hot Switch eShop sale, I might add more – so maybe there’s something new on the card. I’m so embarrassed, I’ve never really played Hell and that’s on hot sale at the moment, so maybe it’s time to finally buy it.

OOOOH my pre-Christmas gaming schedule is pretty tight. I’m playing Solid V Metal Gearbox for the first time — it’s also my first Kojima game, so it’s an experience — and it turns out that I’m really good at it, which is a great feeling. My partner is also playing Outer wilderness for the first time, what I’ve been waiting for YEARS, to the point of being really stressful!

On Switch, however, it’s ending Pokémon Scarletand i just bought aka… everything is beautiful but so far it’s a bit broken, sorry. But I believe a few patches will help!

With this weekend marking the 35th anniversary of the first day superman game, I will be booted up Mega Man Legacy Collection on Switch and… played every game except the first one. Look, we all know it’s the lowest. Still, I’m looking forward to returning to the series and who knows, maybe we’ll get some news from Capcom about the franchise’s next direction…

Elsewhere, I’ll warm up witch 3 on Series X. I tried the new update and although the picture doesn’t look the same significantly Unlike me (I’m playing in Performance Mode), the changed camera angle is a big improvement, so I can’t wait to dig a little deeper.

Still there on Mission Ahead 1: Redo. It’s great that the same tactic used years ago on the Super Famicom still works on the Switch to this day, so whenever I have enough money to upgrade my wanzers to metal threats ultimate type, I just put Gregorio on the worst parts available with two powerful melee weapons and watch him take out opponents with 2.50 odds. This should be illegal! On that note, France won Virtua Striker 3 ver. 2002 Shiryu Living Room World Cup 2022 on Gamecube.

Game of the week is Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Sony’s PSP is late in my gaming journey, but I’m still trying to amass a good game collection. Sadly I don’t have much time for JRPGs so I only played a few hours during the initial outing of this game. I plan to make up for that and who knows, this could be my gateway in Final Fantasy VII Remake. PS: Sephiroth did nothing wrong.

As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!
