Weaver seeks repeat sweep at Royal Palm Juveniles
Teenagers take center stage Gulfstream Park turf on May 11, as a pair of $120,000 five-furlong stakes will award an automatic berth to one of six 2-year-old races held at the Royal Ascot meeting from June 18 to 22.
Coach George Weaver hopes for déjà vu after sweeping the 2023 series with Crimson supporter Who will win Royal Ascot’s Queen Mary Stakes (G2), in the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies and No Nay Mets in Royal Palm Juvenile. This year, he brought a first-time starter to each race.
Cry for a long time debuted in juveniles for black-type thoroughbreds, Swinbank stables, Steve Adkissson and Campeche stables. As a teenager, Weaver submitted Governor Sam for owners of Bregman Family Stables and Swinbank Stables.
FIRST winners include:
- MG Queen Win by a margin at Keeneland April 7 and joins trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.’s stable. for the Fillies minors.
- Perfect Shances won by 4 3/4 lengths on a sloppy Keeneland track on April 11 for trainer Wesley Ward and Walter Rodriguez, who return to ride Juvenile Fillies.
- Ward and Rodriguez also teamed up for the lone winner in the minors, Raising the bar who ran his first race at Keeneland on April 10 by 2 1/4 lengths.
The Junior Team will start race 8 at 4:49pm ET and the Junior Team will start race 10 at 5:52.
