What are proxy files and why you should use them for video editing
While there are certainly some similarities, video editing requires some special considerations and adjustments to your workflow that aren’t necessary when working with photos. Much of the focus is on efficiency and efficient resource management, and one of the most powerful tools to achieve that is the proxy file. This great video tutorial will introduce you to proxy files and show you how to use them when editing your videos in Premiere Pro.
Coming to you from Matt WhoisMatt Johnson, this great video tutorial will show you the details of working with proxy files in Premiere Pro. Simply put, a proxy file is nothing more than a lower quality (and therefore, smaller) version of the video file. In turn, these have less impact on your computer, making it easy to scan through files, add effects, tweaks, and more. When you finish your edit, Premiere will use the original high quality file to render the final video to ensure the best output. Watch the video above for a full recap from Johnson.
