WATCH: Mark Hubbard makes a hole in a game at the Rocket Mortgage Classic after thinking he was going to hit a terrible shot

During the first round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Thursday in Detroit, Mark Hubbard was embarrassed by what he considers a bad spin and dropped his head in disgust after a tee shot on the 11th hole par. -3. Immediately after hitting the ball, he got frustrated and let his club fall to the ground.

“It’s embarrassing,” he said shortly after the ball took off.

However, as has happened to many golfers, what Hubbard thought was a bad swing turned out to be a lot better than he expected. The ball lands near the front edge of the green and continues to roll to finish 216 yards, before jumping around the hole once and dropping in for an ace.

Hubbard was as shocked as everyone around him and quickly covered his mouth. The first question that arises is whether it really succeeds. It certainly happened, and his team teased him how unworthy he was for taking that shot after dropping his club. Just before registering the trump card, even his playing partner, Wyndham Clark, teased him how the ball was better off not going in.

However, Hubbard enjoyed his moment on Thursday. During his media presence, he said he thought the ball had gone too far to the right but was surprised with the result.

“I think that’s probably going to become one of my favorite holes I’ve ever made just because of the circumstances,” he say.

At the end of the day, Hubbard hit 12 out of 18 greens and finished at the bottom 4 for the day. His best this year is third at the Barbasol Championship and fourth at the Barracuda Championship.
