Volkswagen ID.4 EV receives software update – now has Auto Hold, more info from ID Cockpit, bug fixes
Volkswagen will roll out a software update for ID.4 . fully electric SUVwill be offered on select 2021 and 2022 models, the automaker has announced.
Volkswagen says this update is the first update as a prerequisite for features to be enabled in the future, and vehicle owners eligible for these updates will receive key notification. alert when an update is available for their vehicle.
Additional information is provided in the ID. Cockpit information is available through this software update, where the vehicle’s battery charge status is now a percentage readable in addition to the icon and the available battery range is displayed on the display.
Joining these new features is Auto Hold, which essentially allows the driver to release the brake pedal after the vehicle has stopped and hold the vehicle in place until the accelerator pedal is pressed again. This can be turned off in the shortcut menu if desired.
The update will also display the current driving mode used for the vehicle, indicating whether the ID.4 is in Eco, Comfort, Sport, Custom or Traction (the latter is for models) AWD). A trip computer showing current driving data and ambient temperature is also added to the ID. Cockpit display.
Also added as part of the update are minor bug fixes and security improvements, Volkswagen said; future capabilities of ID.4 will include Plug & Charge, as well as additional remote control features.
For the US market, eligible ID.4 units will receive vehicle navigation-specific charging routing, which will be part of a software upgrade rollout this. This will allow the ID.4 driver to filter from specific criteria, such as to view specific Electrify America stations or to view available stations at certain charging rates.
In Malaysia, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) previewed ID.4 in Octoberand VPCM CEO Erik Winter said the company is working to bring ID.4 to the Malaysian market as soon as possible.
Shown locally in the ID.4 Pro Performance form, this configuration features a 204 PS electric motor driving the rear wheels, powered by a 77 kWh (82 kWh total) lithium-ion battery, providing Offers a range of up to 519 km on the WLTP Test Protocol. This will require up to 11 kW of AC charging to fully charge in 7.5 hours, while 125 kW DC charging will allow for a 5%-80% charge in 38 minutes.
