Will Mazda prices in Malaysia increase to RM26,200 from April 1? Mazda 2 from RM114k?

It looks like the prices of some Mazda models in Malaysia will go up on April 1, 2023, at least according to a presentation slide photo that is going viral on social media.

Many of the models seen in the photo are accompanied by the term ‘new IPM’, which is an internal code that denotes a minor year model refresh or update. These include the Mazda 2 which recently received a facelift in Japan and will obviously see its price increase to RM10,200.

Our Mazda 2 is currently imported complete unit (CBU) from Thailand and has a starting price of RM 103,670 when running on the road without insurance for the hatchback – sedan version, an additional RM 500. Therefore, a price increase of that degree for the IPM model would increase the starting price to RM113,870.

Next, the CBU imported Mazda 3 from Japan will cost RM 10,200 more than the IPM version. With prices for the C-segment model now starting at RM143,320 and peaking at RM161,059 (we exclude the Ignite Edition priced at RM170,059), the Mazda 3 IPM will technically range from RM153, 520 to RM171, 259.

Another Japanese CBU model listed is the Mazda 6, which will cost up to RM26,200 with the IPM version. The base 2.0 variant is priced at RM176,159 and is listed for an increased price of RM4,200, bringing the figure to RM180,359.

The 2.5 Touring version, which is a wagon, has the second highest price tag for the Mazda 6 at RM12,200, meaning the final figure is RM230,848 (up from RM218,648 currently). The 2.5 Sedan model currently priced at RM214,648 will increase by RM26,200 to reach RM240,848 from April 1. The final Japanese CBU model is called the MX-5, with both manual and automatic variants increasing. add RM 4, 200 to reach RM277,354 and RM279,354 respectively.

Another model mentioned in the slide is the CX-30, currently locally assembled (CKD) in Malaysia and there are four variations. The announced price increase is RM3,500, bringing the starting price of the crossover from RM128,109 to RM131,609. Meanwhile, the RM200 increase will apply to other models not mentioned, including the CX-3, CX-5, CX-8, CX-9 and BT-50.
