Usyk’s promoter says anger supported the undisputed fight “At the Last Time”
Alex Krassyuk has revealed that Tyson Fury ‘changed his mind’ at the last minute after negotiating against Oleksandr Usyk.
The promoter for K2 is in Saudi Arabia ahead of the curator’s rematch with Anthony Joshua.
Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) is defending the WBA Super, IBF, IBO and WBO titles in the sport’s top division at the Jeddah Superdome on Saturday night, while Britain’s Joshua (24-2) , 22 KOs) is looking to win back the titles he lost last September and become a three-time unified champion.
Tyson Fury is WBC Champion being heavyweight and holding the only bit of real estate Usyk doesn’t have, means a fight between the pair will have to happen for the undisputed crown to be at stake.
And Krassyuk said to Social boxing that the fight was almost over before Fury withdrew.
He say:
“Several circumstances tried to get us out of this fight, like Tyson Fury vs. Usyk is more than just talk. We negotiated on something like last December and it was very positive.
“Tyson has Dillian Whyte as a must, Usyk has a rematch clause, commits to fighting ‘AJ’. Whyte and ‘AJ’ both agreed to let this fight go, but unfortunately, at the last moment, Tyson changed his mind and accepted the imperative.
“We said it was okay and agreed that we would live up to our promise. We had to comply with our obligations before ‘AJ’, but suddenly war began. “
Fury recently relinquished the Ring Magazine title will be in line with an empty spot in the rematch. He was last seen in the ring in April, at London’s Wembley Stadium, when he stopped number one contender Dillian Whyte for six rounds.
Usyk initially signed up to join forces defending his local territory in Kyiv, after his homeland was attacked by Russia, before eventually being persuaded to leave and train for the AJ rematch. It continued with the result that many of Usyk’s compatriots endured terrible suffering.
Krassyuk added:
“It is unexpected for anyone with any general reason in mind that a war [would start] in the heart of Europe in the 21st century with the country as a trading partner, economic partner and neighbor for many years.
“The fact is that the army of the Russian Federation has invaded the territory of the independent state of Ukraine and the war has begun.”
