Laurel Alters Training Schedule for Maintenance

Maryland Jockey has announced a change to its training schedule at Laurel Park to accommodate a maintenance project on the main track that is expected to last a week.

The project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, August 23. The entire schedule is subject to weather conditions and may need to be adjusted accordingly.

MJC Racetrack Director Chris Bosley said the work involved part of the home that was repaired in the fall of 2021. An inspection was part of the Authority’s Track Safety Program and Integrity, starting July 1, determines that the area needs more, he said.

Bosley said now is the perfect time to get the job done with the Laurel summer meetup ending August 21 and the live race moving to the Maryland State Fair at Timonium in two weeks, followed by three weeks at Pimlico Racecourse.

“It’s really nice to rest and have time for preventive maintenance,” Bosley said.
