Usyk is a great guy but he doesn’t respect me
The build-up so far on Oleksandr Usyk-Anthony Joshua 2 has been respectable but the former champ believes he doesn’t have the respect of the Ukrainians.
Two press conferences in Jeddah and London have come and gone with all eyes on their rematch in Saudi Arabia on August 20th. Joshua has now spent enough time in the ring with Usyk and in both bouts to get a rating on the man. man and his character.
Talking to Red Boxing October at the UK press recently, he had this to say about Usyk:
“Definitely he’s focused on the job at hand and I also feel like he’s chilled.”
“What you see from all this environment, he has to put on a tough face but he’s a great guy.”
“He was known as a joker, during the Tottenham press conference [last year] he came in a Joker costume. “
“When you take all the stuff back in this press conference, he may be a cool guy, but I know he has no respect for me. And I know he wants to beat me too.”
AJ talked about how he has to be smarter in the ring this time when he and his new coach Robert Garcia considered to inflict the first defeat of Usyk’s nine-year career. Reclaim the title would make Joshua a three-time heavyweight champion, a monumental feat, but winning isn’t just in his favor as he explains.
“I feel when I’m here and I’m here there’s so much I can do for others. So it’s not just about me.”
“A lot of my success, I know that a lot of people benefit from it too. So I think the longer I can stay on top, the better for everyone involved.”
