Markey’s office said the lawmakers “will reaffirm US support for Taiwan in accordance with the guidance of the Taiwan Relations Act, the US-China Joint Communiqué and the Six Assurances, and will encourage stability and peace across the Taiwan Strait.”

The group will meet “elected leaders and members of the private sector to discuss common interests including reducing tensions in the Taiwan Strait and expanding economic cooperation, including investment in semiconductors,” said Markey’s office.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released photos of the four of the group landing at Songshan Airport in downtown Taipei when boarding a US Air Force transport plane, while Markey arrived at Taoyuan International Airport.
