UMW Toyota Motor to launch GR Corolla, GR86 and GR Supra with 6-speed manual transmission in Malaysia
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) will add several GR models to its lineup next year, including the GR86, Corolla GR and GR Supra with manual transmission. This is according to UMWT president Ravindran Kurusamy, who revealed the news at a media event today.
At the moment, the company does not provide a timeline for when these models will be released, but they will be alongside other models already introduced in Malaysia, namely the GR Yaris and GR Supra – the latter. equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Focus on each car, the GR Supra with one six-speed manual transmission is the most recent product to launch globally. Gearbox is exclusively paired with 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine for 387 PS (382 hp) and 500 Nm of torque.
About the GR Corolla revealed early April This year and adopt the powertrain of the GR Yaris that includes the G16E-GTS 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, a six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) with rev matching, a limited differential. Front and rear Torsen slides are available and the GR -All-wheel drive system is available.
However, the GR Corolla has more power, up to 304 PS (300 hp) and 370 Nm, due to Toyota’s modifications. In addition to the standard version, there is also a limited unit Morizo version help reduce weight and improve dynamic driving performance.
Finally, there’s the GR86 that came out after its twin, Second generation Subaru BRZIn Last April. The two-door rear-wheel drive sports car is the successor to the original 86 we have here original and face tightening forms.
Now powered by a larger, 2.4-liter naturally aspirated flat-four engine, the GR86 now delivers up to 235 PS (232 hp) and 250 Nm of torque, and available with 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Details like pricing and local specs are currently unknown, but in some contexts, the updated GR Supra retails for RM611,880 on-road with no insurance when it’s introduced, inclusive. including sales tax.
The 86 facelift is priced from RM257,502 for the manual and RM264,309 for the manual when it was introduced in July 2017. The GR Corolla is a brand new addition, but will likely be more expensive than the already existing GR Yaris. selling for RM299,000 with sales tax. If we extrapolate based on what is happening in Thailand where the GR Corolla costs 46.8% more than the GR Yaris, the figure would be around RM439k.
