Two Emmys Bring Chicago Back in Outbound Ike
Two Emmys who solved the problem of frustration in the Mr. D. Staking (G1T) last summer at Arlington International Racecoursemakes his Chicago-area race return on June 25 as a favorite in the $75,000 Outbound Ike Stakes on June 25 at Hawthorne Racecourse.
Outbound Ike, a 1/16-mile grass race, takes place on the closing day of the Spring Thoroughbred meeting in Hawthorne before the track is ready for the Standardbred meeting. There are no Summer Thoroughbred races in Chicago this year after Arlington’s closure.
Last year, Wolfe Racing and Hugh Robertson’s Two Emmys last longer Domestic spending in Mr. D., was renamed last year from Arlington Million and reduced its purse to $600,000. This year, Arlington Million is scheduled to run for $1 million on August 13 at Churchill Downs. The grass race at Churchill has not taken place for the past two weeks due to problems with its new turf.
The two Emmys are 1 on 5 since Mr. D. last August, qualified for the Muniz Memorial Classic presented by Horse Racing Nation (G2T) at Fair Grounds in Slots March 26. Most recently, he weakened to seventh place on April 23 Elkhorn Stakes (G2T) at Keeneland.
Marcelino Pedroza Jr rode Robertson on Saturday, who also coaches the Two Emmys. 6 year old English Channel gelding carried a tall 125 pounds, spotting his opponents from three to seven pounds.
Seven-horse Ike Outbound also includes graded winners Current , Channel Bizzee and Charming Moon .
