Long shot betting options: Eggington-Zysk & Rodriguez-Rungvisai

Well, it’s not better than last week. Both the double and the treble landed, although the long shot was not yet reached. Although there were more wars to choose from, the value was few and far between today. As always, we will not be discouraged.

Here are this Saturday’s picks:

The Longshot

Former Team GB member Scott Forrest has his second professional match on the BOXXER card tonight against Toni Visic. Forrest has enjoyed a good amateur career, having represented Scotland at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. Visic has 20 wins, but all against modest opposition – he not the type of person who likes a journey to disappointment in spring. The bookies have priced Scotland win by 2/13, which seems pretty short to me. The Croatian has been stopped in 12 of his 32 losses, but has taken some good boxers to the scheduled distances. In 2018, Visic went all six rounds against Sam Hyde and was never in danger of being stopped. Admittedly, Hyde looked hampered by a knee injury during the match. Although Forrest won his debut by TKO in the second round, it’s still unclear how hard he hit. The power of the prospects is often overestimated, so it might be worth taking a small speculative shot at Forrest for a 5/1 win.

Pair

River Wilson-Bent and Tyler Denny meet in their rematch from November 2021, with the British middleweight championship at stake. The first match went to the referees’ scorecards after seven innings were completed as a cut to Wilson-Bent’s eye was deemed too serious to continue. One judge each in favor of each, while John Latham could not divide them, resulting in a tie. I predict their second encounter will be highly competitive, with the possibility of many goalless innings. However, this war is taking place in Coventry, Wilson-Bent’s home city. England’s scorecard is scrutinized most of the week, as it becomes increasingly difficult for the corner kickers to get a fair shake.

Thus, the choice here is that Wilson-Bent will win the decision at the rate of 13/8.

On the same bill, Sam Eggington takes on the undefeated Przemyslaw Zysk, in the super heavyweight division. Eggington is often involved in entertainment wars and this one could be no different. The Midlands man loves nothing more than taking part in a fight, and in Zysk he may have a rival who happily obliges him. The Pole is a solid professional, with a good shot. I doubt he will be durable enough to hear the final bell. Eggington won 5/2 as the pick.

As a double, bets are available at odds of 8/1.

Treble

Invincible prospect Nikita Ababiy facing Noe Larios Jr. in a low-ranking battle between Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. Larios last played against Caoimhin Agyarko, last December. Larios was eventually stopped in the penultimate bracket of the scheduled 10th round. On that night, Agyarko looked for a knockout with every punch thrown. Had the Irishman created an opening by taking advantage of his strike, the goal might have come sooner. Ababiy, maybe similar gung-ho, but ‘White Chocolate’ doesn’t overlook his leading hand. Although there are only 8 rounds left, I believe that Aabiy can equalize with a ratio of 5/4.

For those who prefer all three options, the treble is less than 20/1 with Betfred.
