Two people were taken to hospital after part of the stands collapsed during rehearsals for Color Warriors.

Five people were treated after Saturday’s incident as a crowd watched the event at Horse Guards Road in central London.

Witnesses described hearing “a loud bang and then a scream” and someone falling through the stands.

Two people were taken to a major trauma center “as a priority”, London Ambulance Service said.

Three other people were treated by paramedics and discharged at the scene after the incident happened around 11am.

An Army spokesman said two sections of the stand had “gave room” and that work was underway to determine the cause of the incident.

They added: “Emergency services were called to assist the injured and the remaining crowds were safely evacuated from the stands.

“Safety is our number one priority and we are urgently working with our partners and relevant organizations to understand what happened and ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

Audiences watched the full June 2 pre-event rehearsal for the Queen Platinum Jubilee celebration.

Witnesses said the crowd was evacuated by emergency services and the ceremony, which included the Household Division and Guards Division parade, was cut short.

Sam Miller wrote on Twitter that a stand near him collapsed “with someone falling” as people stood up to sing the national anthem.

Another witness said: “There was a big bang followed by screams and a ‘help, help’ voice.

“Several ambulances were at the site and stretchers were brought out to save the casualties.”

In a statement, the Ministry of Defense said: “We are assisting emergency services following an incident on the Guards Parade square.

“It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
