Transfer deadline date: Aubameyang to Ronaldo, top 10 players could move before summer break closes
The summer transfer window for the 2022-23 season in Europe is coming to an end, with some of the most exciting deals completed. Erling Haaland has a new team, while Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have a new striker.
Before the last day of the window, here are 10 players who can move on the deadline day.
1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The former Arsenal striker left England to play officially on a free transfer in February this year.
Six months later, Gabon-International found themselves downhill, with 13 goals and one assist in 24 appearances for the club. Barca’s latest signing Robert Lewandowski has replaced him in the starting XI, with three goals in as many league appearances so far.
Aubameyang – who suffered a broken jaw injury after his house was robbed – is expected to move to Chelsea on loan, with negotiations set to take place on the final day.
2. Cristiano Ronaldo
The five-time Champions League winner has been relegated to Man United and failed to start in two consecutive competitions – against Liverpool and Southampton.
On the last day of last year, Ronaldo returned to Man United. Although the manager reassured him on Wednesday that he was still part of his plans, being on the bench regularly may have been just the factor in his departure. His childhood club, Sporting CP seem to be the only one interested in bringing him back.
3. James Garner
The 21-year-old Manchester United player was expected to become an English mainstay in United’s midfield, but the arrivals of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have dashed those hopes.
Garner impressed during his loan spell at Nottingham Forest with four goals and eight assists as he helped the club return to the Premier League after 23 years.

But the abundance of midfield options for coach Erik Ten Hag – Scott McTominay, Fred, Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes – was a key factor in Garner’s exclusion, with multiple Premier League clubs interested.
It is known that Everton is leading the race with a price of nearly 20 million pounds.
4. Sergino Dest
The full-back joins Barcelona in 2020 under manager Ronald Koeman for a fee of £21m plus add-ons.
Under Xavi Dest, playing time has decreased and he has not started for the Catalan side in the tournament so far. With defender Jules Kounde joining the team this summer, the US international is said to have been looking for another club.
According to recent reports, United are interested in Erik Ten Hag having signed some of his former players – Antony, Eriksen, Lisandro – for the Red Devils. But United will only move to the American if Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves on loan.
5. Odysseas Vlachodīmos
Ajax saw goalkeeper Andre Onana leave Inter Milan in July and the Dutch champions have been eyeing a goalkeeper since. According to the latest reports, Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodīmos has been linked with the team and the team are trying to sign the Greek No 1 ahead of time.
6. Layvin Kurzawa
Like Gueye, Kurzawa is part of an exodus of players leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer. He is expected to join Fulham, with manager Marco Silva offering to bolster his defense after signing Issa Diop from West Ham United.
7. Mario Ballotelli
The Italian player recently made headlines for his temper after he nearly got into a fight with his current manager Vincenzo Montella. Balotelli is expected to move to Swiss side FC Scion on the last day – the 11th different club of his career.
8. Abdou Diallo
The PSG defender – who made just 12 appearances in Ligue 1 last season – has been told he is out of the club’s plans under new manager Christophe Galtier. Three clubs – RB Leipzig, Benfica and Galatasaray – are interested in signing Diallo on the last day.
9. Willy Boly
The 31-year-old did not go to Mollineux – home of Wolverhampton Wanderers – despite being named in the team of the match against Newcastle United.

Since then, his intention to leave the club has been made clear and he is expected to join Nottingham Forest on the deadline day, according to multiple reports in the UK.
10. Hee-Chan Hwang
The Wolverhampton Wanderers forward has caught the attention of Ralph Hasenhuttl as he has more attacking options since Danny Ings’ departure last year. The South Korean has 5 goals and 2 assists in 36 appearances for the Wolves so far.
11. Amad Diallo
The Manchester United youngster, who has one goal and one assist for the senior squad to date, is also on his way out alongside James Garner. The Ivorian, unlike Garner, is expected to leave on loan and Sunderland are interested in bringing him on board.
