Toyota sends GR Supra with a blast before EV replacement – report

Toyota the report still plans to introduce a hot GRMN its version GR Supra before it is replaced by an electric model in 2025.

Japanese shop Best Car Web reports the GRMN Supra will use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six producing 404 kW – up from previous reports of 385 kW and putting it on the ball with BMW M4 CLS.

GRMN Supra is said to be the final version of the current version superNo other variations are planned.

The current Supra is said to be discontinued in 2025 along with related versions bmwz4besides it is manufactured by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria.

Previous reports The proposed GRMN will launch in 2023 and use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and various weight-saving measures such as greater use of carbon fiber components.

Those reports also indicate that it will be a limited run model, with likely only 200 units to be produced.

The standard GR Supra has a single turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 285kW and 500Nm. It is offered with an eight-speed torque converter automatic or, introduced last year, a six-speed manual transmission.

Even so, details about the next-generation electric GR Supra are still vague Best Car Web reports that it will be rear-wheel drive and have a design reminiscent of a mid-engine sports car.

Having recently introduced a manual version of the current car, it is possible that Toyota is working on a version of the next-generation model for enthusiasts who don’t want to let the clutch out of the clutch.

Toyota patented for simulated manual transmission for electric vehicles with fake clutches last year, but it’s unclear if the technology will make it to production vehicles. Automakers are known for patenting cool concepts without necessarily putting them into production.

“The layout and operating feel of the fake clutch pedal [and pseudo-shifter] equivalent to a real MT vehicle,” Toyota said in one of its patent filings.

Toyota says its goal with this EV manual transmission “is to provide an electric vehicle that is capable of both driving like an MT (manual transmission) and driving like a normal electric vehicle without the insecurities.” and worry”.

The Japanese automaker details in its patent filing that this manual gearshift function can be turned off if desired.

Supra’s arch-rival, just released NISANZis set to receive a top performance of its own.

ONE Nismo . variant is reported to be active and is expected to deliver more power than the standard Z, though just how much – and what other mechanical changes it will receive – remains unclear .

The standard Nissan Z produces 298 kW of power and 475 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission.
