Mercedes-Benz switches to Tesla charging port for North America


Mercedes-Benz on Friday announced that it will adopt the Tesla charging port for electric vehicles in the future, and a charging network is already planned in North America.

Like other brands that have committed to date—Ford, GM, Rivian, Volvo and Polestar—Mercedes will deliver an adapter by 2024 to allow owners of existing electric vehicles to use the Tesla network. Supercharger, followed by in-car port incorporation starting in 2025.

Mercedes did not say whether it plans to phase out the Combined Charging Standard (CCS) port used in its current electric vehicles and use only the Tesla port, also known as the North American Charging Standard.
