Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition 2024 launches a new performance package

Toyota is back with another limited edition model of it GR86 sports coupe that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the original Sprinter Trueno. The 2024 Trueno Edition will be limited to just 860 units and comes with a new performance package that is not only optional on the regular GR86 2024, but is also offered as a retrofit to owners of the 2022 and 2023 models. For those who prioritize safety but still want to drive on their own, the GR86’s active safety system will be available for the first time on manual models, confirming rumor prompted by Subaru offers “Eyesight” system on manual transmission BRZ in Japan.

We are basically talking about an appearance pack. Based on the Premium, it’s available in red or white, and in addition to the new performance pack (which we’ll detail below), you also get a two-tone hood and side stripes; black finish on door handles, rearview mirror and duckbill spoiler; Front and rear “TRUENO Edition” badging and unique 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you get red seats upholstered in faux suede and leather trim, along with matching red leather on the gear lever and steering wheel. The gear lever has the “Trueno Edition” badging, and so are the floor mats and trunk.

The 18-inch wheels we mentioned above are remarkable because they are the minimum size required for Toyota’s new performance package. It pairs a new Sachs shock absorber with Brembo brake calipers and Toyota says it has been optimized for driving, handling and brake Consistency. Even better, this entire package will be available to customers returning to the ’22 and ’23 model years, where the Premium model with 18-inch wheels serves as an alternative to the all-round performance package. Four-piston Brembo brake calipers take the 12.8-inch rotors up front and the two-pot take the 12.4-inch rear wheels. The bad news is that the larger brakes won’t be suitable for cars equipped with standard 17-inch wheels. That’s fine too, since Toyota’s available 18-inch wheels come with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S — a tire with much better performance than michelin Primacy HP comes with 17s.

And while it may not be a big priority for those intending to drive one on the track, manual-shift GR86s are now available with active safety features, including cruise control. adaptive, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning, etc. This is just by Subaru The EyeSight kit has a different name (or no name, technically) and since Toyota didn’t explain how some of these features will interact with the manual transmission, we assume we’ll have to wait for Subaru to provide information. detail.

The GR86 Trueno 2024 version will be available to order starting this winter. Details on the rest of the GR86 2024 series will come closer to the sale date. Keep stable.
