With electric cars continuing to drive up the stock market, it’s no surprise that several automakers are showing big-budget EV ads this Sunday, February 13. of the Super Bowl.
Last year’s GM commercial was a brilliantly produced, bombastic Will Ferrell affair in which the actor discovered that Norwegians buy more electric cars per capita compared to Americans. It brings One Game of Thrones react from Norway and Audi.

EV Super Bowl commercial also available a particularly strong year in 2020with a preview of GMC Hummer EV; a group of museums stealthy “thieves” speeding up in Taycans and vintage Porsches; and a musical cue from Audi, about gasoline, that you “Let it go.”
That year marked a turning point. Before 2020, there were only a handful of cases where automakers were brave enough to advertise electric vehicles in the American Big Game, but the message has been mixed. There’s been a confusing Audi “Office Space” ad that meets a “Field of Dreams” and a “Back to the Future” ad since 2019, with E-Tron GTjust started arriving in the US, and BMW’s 2015 Super Bowl commercial for the i3, featuring Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel.

There have even been some “alternative” Super Bowl commercials — such as one that was particularly notable last year about “Mr. E” and Porsche Taycan.

Zeus found his mojo with iX
BMW has released two installments of its BMW iX Super Bowl adventure, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Selma Hayek, as Zeus, the Greek god of thunder, and his wife Hera, respectively. Zeus was trying to cope with the modern world, and his retirement in Palm Springs had brought his spirits down – until he saw the BMW iX SUV. Just pretend you don’t hear Eddy Grant’s “Electric Avenue” or MGMT’s “Electric Feel” (check it out for this overplayed EV starter tune used here).
Dr. EVil takes over General Motors
Mike Myers’ Doctor Evil, of Austin Powers fame returns to parody 1960s spy movies. In it, Dr. EVil takes over General Motors and learns about the Ultium platform and the changing climate. post-apocalypse — with a new plan to save the world first, then take over the world. With Rob Lowe, Seth Green and Mindy Sterling all returning, it’s an all-star cast. Is this GM trolling himself? It’s hard to distinguish, which is something that can improve from foul to nib.
Kia and the robot dog: Yes, there is a connection
In a Kia commercial for the EV6, a cute, big-eyed robotic dog spotted the Kia electric car and tracked it down, arriving at the right time… Let’s just say everything needs charging. And Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” ensures that boomers won’t turn around all the time.
Nissan suggests EV as main attraction
Eugene Levy became a cranky action star while driving the new Nissan Z sports car. But Catherine O’Hara (yes, reprising “Schitt’s Creek” and “Best in Show”) is aiming for a big debut in an Ariya electric crossover. This certainly fits with gender stereotypes in action movies. But when the women are at the front for a quick exit in Ariya, maybe it’s breaking them down?
Polestar continues to maintain the brand
Polestar’s trailer for the Super Bowl commercial is free of distractions—such as supermodels, waving flags, explosions, monkeys, parodies, and remixes, just to pull a few things that wouldn’t show up. For all of that Not including, this is the first ad in at least one respect — the first Super Bowl ad from a car company in the midst of a SPAC deal.
Wallbox talk about “crash”
In what feels like the least ostentatious advertisement regarding the Super Bowl’s electric cars, the narrator explains that he has a “problem” with electricity, but that Wallbox is somehow helping him move forward. to save time and the environment. Smart charging isn’t just therapy for the EV-disgusting, so let’s hope for more benefits here!
