A lot of cars have had significant price hikes at the end of the year, but $50,000 can still buy you a decent car – mid-range Toyota RAV4 XSE Hybrid just an example.
But what if you want to live a little? While automobiles are our domain, auto expert The team looked through the classifieds to see what great used cars we could buy for $50,000.
The answer is a rather interesting range of vehicles, although most of our findings are powered by V8s and even V10s and are therefore less affordable than the RAV4 Hybrid in many ways.

We all have our guilty pleasures, cars that we probably don’t objectively like but nonetheless have an uncanny appeal. The Alborz Fallah alone seems to have a bunch, and it all seems to be convertibles.

Why 230km/h for the police is not reckless driving
Should a police officer be exempt from a penalty for speeding up to 230km/h if they are rushing to help an injured colleague?
That’s the question Paul Maric asked after Senior Sheriff Bradley Beecroft did it and faced 10 years in prison for reckless endangerment of life.
The officer was later dropped on two of the four charges against him, although the 16-year Victoria Police veteran and gold license holder still faces dangerous driving charges. and speeding will be on trial next year.

The joy of driving a clutch again
