Tim Tszyu may not be fighting Jermell Charlo any time soon, but he does have a dangerous foe in the next battle anyway. After Charlo’s injury kept the two men from fighting next weekend, as planned, Tszyu may have gone for a correction. However, instead of going into an easy, hectic fight, Tszyu will take on former world player Tony Harrison. This is not the kind of battle that is certain for the red-hot 21-0 Tszyu. In fact, welterweight champion Errol Spence took to Twitter on Sunday to express his belief that Harrison would win. “I bet 10,” he said, “when Tony Harrison is upset.” He may not be the only one.
Boasting a 29-3-1 record, Harrison has been a pro since 2011. His biggest win was a very impressive 2018 win over Charlo, with whom he lifted the belt. WBC middleweight world in the process. Charlo returned the following year to crush Harrison in a rematch in the 11th minute of injury time. The son of boxing royalty Kostya Tszyu, the 28-year-old Australian boxer is looking to follow in his father’s footsteps. With that in mind, he certainly left his mark by courageously facing Harrison. This move clearly shows that Tszyu is very confident. And really, it’s easy to see why he’ll likely be a fan of bets going into the fray.
With ample speed and precise punch placement, the man proved himself to be nothing if not formidable against more than 20 of his previous opponents. However, those opponents weren’t Harrison. Tszyu is a person who likes to challenge himself, and now he’s about to have a pretty big test in Harrison. This could be a good one, as it is a quality pair on paper. The match between Tszyu-Harrison will be for the interim WBO middleweight belt. The fight will take place in Australia, although the exact location has yet to be decided.
