In the final elimination bout to decide who will face the winner of the upcoming three-round title fight Tyson Fury-Derek Chisora, former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has been ordered by the Council to take on the former champion. WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight Andy Ruiz. The announcement was made Wednesday at the WBC conference in Acapulco. It’s going to be an interesting and perhaps exciting fight as both men are looking to regain their former positions in the heavyweight division. It will also be a relatively easy match to make as Wilder and Ruiz fight under the same PBC banner. The match, if it is signed, will certainly be broadcast as a pay-per-view event.
Ruiz shocked a lot of people when he stopped Anthony Joshua on the American heavyweight heavyweight champion’s debut at Madison Squared Garden in 2019. Wilder is, simply put, one of the most exciting boxers in the world. And in Ruiz, he will clearly meet a worthy opponent, someone who can relieve his frustration. Provided, of course, that the two men agree to fight – who would assume they would fight.
