The Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid 2024 lineup looks optimal for outdoor activities

The redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe broke the cover earlier this week with a more stylish exterior that will likely incorporate hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Expected to hit US showrooms in the 2024 model year, this fifth-generation Santa Fe follows a different style direction than previous generations, with boxy styling and angular details, including the “H” shaped headlights and taillights that signify the brand’s name.

The redesigned Santa Fe will feature three rows of seats in at least some markets, though it’s unclear if that option will be available in the US, where the Santa Fe is currently only sold in two-row, five-seat form. Hyundai claims “leading interior space” and the wider rear door “makes it possible for occupants to enjoy the outdoors in the most effortless way possible,” the automaker’s press document says.

On the opposite side of the cabin, the Santa Fe switches to a curved infotainment display, which includes a large touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster placed side by side and a raised center console with a storage niche below. The panel houses two wireless charging pads, plus a USB port, while the top panel houses most of the controls—with a sizable number of analog buttons and knobs.

Hyundai has used sustainable materials such as recycled plastic in the roof, carpeting and second- and third-row seat backs. Synthetic leather — that’s the vinyl seat for the rest of us, which automakers now consider a sustainable material — is used in the door trim. However, genuine nappa leather and wood trim will still be available.

No word on powertrains yet, but it’s likely that hybrid and plug-in hybrid options will continue. Afterward drop Sonata Plug-In Hybrid In 2020, Hyundai says it will emphasize plug-in hybrid powertrains in SUVs when its next-generation electric vehicle arrives.
