Some dogs are born heroes, and a big stuffed dog named Matyas is definitely one of them! This very good boy is playing with his father’s granddaughter by the sea in Gouville-sur-Mer, France, when a wave hits. The little girl was sitting on the shoal, splashing happily between the breakers, and seemed not in the least bit distressed by the moment she sank below the surface.
Matyas, on the other hand, reacted like a worried parent. Seeing his playmate being dragged underwater, he went straight into protected mode. He decided that swimming time was over, grabbed the girl’s shirt, and dragged her back to dry land!
It’s not known whether Matyas is really fearing for her young friend’s life or is just joining in the summer fun, but she sure looks like she’s having a good time! Her grin and carefree smile are contagious throughout the short video.
Matyas, who appears to be a Caucasian shepherd, isn’t the only dog who gets a little guarded when he sees a loved one walking in the water. Each of the following dogs will take action to “rescue” their loved ones from the dangerous waters of backyard swimming pools.

The man in this video appears to be swimming in some kind of man-made swimming hole while his loyal dog lies nearby. He gets the dog’s attention, then lowers his head below the surface. Thinking his father was in danger, the dog wasted no time, diving right on top of him and then pulling him off with her fingers!
3. Small But Powerful JRT Zooms In To Rescue Dad
While enjoying a backyard pool party, this dog dad decided to test his puppy’s rescue skills. He went down and splashed in mock misery. As partygoers cheered, his little Jack Russell Terrier made a powerful jump into the pool and paddled to his rescue.
4. Doggo faithfully overcomes obstacles to reach his “drowning” father
This video is from Vietnam. In it, a man pretends to drown and calls his dog, which is near the pool. The dog appeared, maneuvered the barricade to get to his father, then rushed in without hesitation.
5. Pittie The “Never Swim Before” Risked Her Life For Her Dad
In another pool party scene, we see a gray and white Pit Bull nervously wagging his tail and sniffing at his owner, who is pretending to be in trouble. Eventually, the puppy ran around to an easier entry point and swam to his dad’s aid.
