The BMW Z8 has window controls like a VW ID.4 and no one complains
For car enthusiasts of a certain age, it doesn’t get much better than BMW Z8. That’s largely because it’s downright gorgeous. The driving experience can be completely trashy, and many people still love the Z8 simply because it’s strangely beautiful. BMW Z3 It’s certainly fascinating, but the Z8 takes it to the next level. But it can be said that the interior is really where the Z8 really shines.
Doug DeMuro recently reviewed a 2002 BMW Z8 that happened to be currently for sale on Cars & Bid. It’s a great reminder of how well BMW has done at bringing the 507’s styling cues into the modern era, but the best part is that Doug has spent a lot of time focusing on the interior. . It’s not like no one hasn’t seen a shot of the Z8’s cabin, but since a lot of attention is paid to the exterior design, it’s refreshing to see the interior get the attention it deserves.
Instead of giving the Z8 a relatively standard BMW interior at the time, the designers used a vintage-inspired interior just like the exterior. It’s simple, it’s smart, and it really underlines the fact that the Z8 is all about enjoying the driving experience. Technology is either minimized, hidden, or completely absent, and that means distractions are kept to a minimum as well. It still looks great today and in 20 years it will probably still look great.
In pursuit of simplicity, the designers have also come up with some great ideas. For example, there is only one set of window and mirror controls on the driver’s side. Between them, there’s a switch that lets you choose driver-side or passenger-side adjustments. But if you switch the switch to the middle, you can raise and lower both windows at the same time. Not only does that reduce complexity, but it’s also really fun.
Sadly, though, it’s unlikely that the BMW Z8s will become affordable any time in the future. With just seven days to go until the auction, this special Z8 is up to $120,000. By the time you read this, chances are the price will go even higher. But hey, at least you can always look at good photos even if you don’t have a few hundred thousand dollars to buy a 20+ year old car.
