2022 Players Championship Fantasy Golf Expert’s Choice
One player Gates really appreciates this week is Morikawa, and pundits are expecting him to contend for another victory. The 25-year-old has five wins in tournaments, including two majors, helping him rise to second place in the world rankings. Morikawa finished in the top 10 in each of his five tournaments this year (including the World of Heroes Challenge). He’s second at Genesis, shooting no worse than 68, and 85 lower than his five Tour events to date. He ranks no worse than eighth in any stroke hit category, and he’s fourth in strokes.
Amazingly, the pros are fading Rahm again after it paid off for him last week. The Spaniard scored a cross to end the game in 17th place at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and he’s only made it into the top 10 three times in seven appearances this season. He finished in the top 25 twice, with only one in the top 10, in four attempts at Player. He’s also been having some trouble with his swing this season, although his 10-inch miss in the opening round last week was more of an accident. He’s 179th in strokes per round (29.54) this season and 135th in strokes achieved, losing almost one shot outright.
