India won the historic gold medal in the women’s quadcopter after the Indian team of Lovely Choubey, Rupa Rani Tirkey, Pinki and Nayanmoni Saikia beat South Africa 17-10 in the final. on Tuesday. This was India’s first medal in the sport and the whole team showed great composure and kept their nerves under pressure to win the gold. This victory helped India claim its fourth gold medal at the ongoing event.
When South Africa made the final attempt, India won the gold medal. As soon as the victory was completed, the entire Indian team hugged each other in the middle and on their faces was absolute happiness.

During the match, India was under pressure at one stage, but they managed to hold their ground. India was leading 8-2 in one leg, but South Africa came back to take the lead 10-8. But the Indian team once again showed great skill to mark the competition. In the previous round, India got two points to bring home advantage.
Earlier, in the semi-final against New Zealand, after going 0-5 after the second half, the Indian team came back strongly against the Kiwi team of Selina Goddard (leading), Nicole Toomey (second place), Taylor Bruce (third) and Val Smith (skip).

After finishing 9, they were 7-7 lead but after finishing 10, India was leading 10-7. It was a close competition between the two sides, as New Zealand had a slight lead 13-12 after finishing 14. A brilliant shot from Tirkey helped India seal the match at 16. -13.
