I make my own pet food. And I use my dehydrator to make her food. I also make cookies for her dogs. I want to know everything that goes into my dog’s digestive system. All my hounds are over 15 years old since 1989. What I feed my dogs now is protein, brown rice and vegetables.

First, you need to find out what your dog is allergic to. What other people feed their dogs is not helpful to know unless they have similar allergies.

I cook. He is said to be allergic to chicken, rice, soy, wheat. He also has seasonal allergies. Eight months out of the year, I manage without allergy medication and tolerate licking my feet. Summer it needs Apoquel or Cytopoint to be comfortable. Crockpot a few proteins (turkey, beef, venison, fish, pork) sweet potatoes, chickpeas, carrots, pumpkin, bone meal. Pack in containers and freeze. Supplemented with probiotics and joints. He’s 12 years old. Still a sporty dog….

I use Merrick Lamb Limited Diet crumbs and Merrick Limited Diet canned food. We avoid pork, chicken, beef and turkey as everything bothers my JRT and the vet says these are common foods that can cause allergies. The poor boy was vomiting, not eating and dehydrated. After doing this a few times and trying all kinds of foods, even dog food from Australia; This particular brand does not cause the same allergy problems as other brands.

I cook for me 2 different meats, mackerel and sweet potatoes and avoid chicken, dog vitamins, eggshells, and seaweed. I assume I’ve met all of his nutritional needs and I know what’s in it and if I can eat it.

Natures Menu….Country hunter duck. Our Sparky was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), we had to watch how much protein he took in. No chicken, mutton or lamb along with a long list of other dishes including cheese which is one of his favorites, He’s healthy for now and that’s all what’s important.
