Texas fire dogs unlock doors and save trapped first responders

It was an unlucky day for a first responder when he accidentally locked himself outside the Public Security building at night. But luckily for him, the fire dog Koda watched and was there at the right time to save the day.

Surveillance cameras have captured the super-intelligent Golden Retriever being able to jump up, unlock doors and get a trapped firefighter inside.

This amazing video clip is absolutely laughable. (Especially when she wags her tail excitedly at the end.) But we’re not too surprised that this good-natured girl has completed her assignment. Koda is not only famous in her local community as a total sweetheart, but she also has a reputation for being amazing at both her job as a fire dog and as a therapy dog.

As the video begins, Koda is standing near the door, seemingly looking outside through the window. Movement can be seen through the glass panes on the door as first responders approach the entrance. Then this kind girl used her top training to help a firefighter. She jumped up, put her foot on the doorknob and pushed it open for him.

The video definitely makes me wonder if she has had to do something like this for firefighters in the past, or if she was fully trained to prepare for this mission. Koda’s tail started wagging like crazy when the fireman was finally able to enter the building, and then he bent down to give her lots of love. This good girl has definitely earned herself a bonus or two.

Not only is Koda able to open doors for stranded first responders, but she also enjoys visiting different places around her local community to help teach fire safety. She loves to visit schools, hospitals and even camps. Additionally, this five-year-old firefighter often puts on a big smile at community events, while helping educate and show off all the equipment firefighters use on the job.

First responders are often the ones doing the saving, but sometimes, they can even use a helping hand, (or in this case, a proficient foot). You can watch the full surveillance footage below.

Can’t get enough of these super cute fangs? You can keep up with Koda alone Instagram page which posts pictures of the fire dog in her many exciting adventures. Or you can follow the Georgetown Fire Department on Facebook page.
