Fairway rancher Morris Floyd dies aged 86
Morris “Morry” Floyd, who owned Fairway Ranch near Lexington, has passed away. Floyd is 86 years old.
A lawyer who followed his late father, William H. Floyd, into racing and ranching, Morris Floyd, alone or in partnership, has bred more than a dozen bet winners, including those Level 3 winner Nile Delta and Trouble Kid.
Born on November 6, 1936, Morris Floyd preceded the deaths of his parents, William H. and Barrie Briggs Floyd, and his brother, William Barrow (Bill) Floyd. A graduate of Culver Institute, Princeton University, and a graduate of Kentucky College of Law in 1961, Floyd actively practiced law for 61 years, initially as an assistant attorney general for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and later in private practice. until his death.
