TCA Honors Moss, Second Step at the 8th January Event


Thoroughbred charities of the United States will honor Maggi Moss with the Allaire du Pont Leadership Award, and Step Two with the Ellen and Herb Moelis Industrial Service Award at the annual Stall Season Auction 33rd and ‘Tis the Season Celebration by Mt. Brilliant presents January 8 at the Grand Reserve in Lexington.

The Allaire du Pont Leadership Award is presented annually to an organization or individual whose charitable endeavor is consistent with TCA’s mission. Past winners include Jen Roytz, LNJ Foxwoods, Dan Rosenberg, Barbara Banke, Bourbon Lane Stable, Graham and Anita Motion, Frank Stronach, Fasig-Tipton, Darley, Todd Pletcher, Roy and Gretchen Jackson, and Madeline Auerbach .

Hailing from Des Moines, Iowa, Maggi Moss is a successful thoroughbred owner, attorney, and staunch advocate for the welfare of horses. Maggi started horseback riding when she was 9 years old and competed nationally in show jumping, winning national championships at Madison Square Garden, Washington International, and more. After more than two decades in the show horse world, Maggi turned her attention to Thoroughbred racehorses. In 2006, she became the first woman in the US since 1945 to be named the top owner in America for race victories.

She has been a top owner at many races, including aqueduct, Belmont Park, Fair Grounds Racecourse & Slots, Churchill Downsand grassland steppe. During her time in racing, Maggi has worked to advocate the importance of Thoroughbred aftercare. She serves as a consultant to a number of aftercare organizations and is on the founding boards of the Iowa Thoroughbred Hope After Racing and the National Purebred Welfare Foundation. Her dedication to the well-being of Thoroughbreds during and after their racing careers embodies the spirit of the Allaire du Pont Leadership Award.

The Ellen and Herb Moelis Industrial Service Award is presented annually to an organization that works to uphold TCA’s mission. Previous winners include Our Mims Retirement Haven, TAKE2 Second Career Thoroughbred Program, Caribbean Thoroughbred Care, Backstretch Staff Service Team (BEST), Club Purebred Incentive Program Jockey, CANTER USA, Retired Racehorse Project, Belmont Child Care Association, Old Friends, and New York Racetrack Chaplain.

Founded in 2005, Second Stride is a thoroughbred post-care organization based in Prospect, Ky. Second Stride works to safely and responsibly retrain and rehabilitate Purebred dogs, and since its inception, more than 1,400 Purebred dogs have been moved to new homes. Second Stride’s program is unique in many ways, including the new Broodmare and Bloodstock programs, which focus on breeder flocks in the livestock industry in need of a transition to a third or even fourth occupation. Second Stride’s specialized training programs are designed to help reduce the transition time for horses in need of a new career, and their low return rate represents the time and effort staff put into it. ensure a good fit between the horse and the owner.

The stallion season auction opens with an online auction of stud seasons at 9 a.m. on January 4 and continues through 4:30 p.m. EST on January 6. Nearly 200 seasons will be available on Equip.com. A complete list of seasons is available this.

Some seasons in the Constitution will be on sale at ‘Tis the Seasons Celebration

Most seasons will be sold in online auctions. However, choose the season to Structure , Flight route , good magic , Maxfield (with 2024 back), Nashville (with 2024 back), Not this time , Nyquist (with 2024 back), Olympic and Quality Sugar will go on sale at ‘Tis the Seasons Celebration on January 8th. Bidders or their authorized dealers can bid on select seasons by attending the event in person, or they can send email [email protected] to register for online bidding. Non-seasonal items, including the John Deere ZTrak mower, an apartment in St. Thomas and a week-long stay at a Florida beach house, will also be offered in the live auction. Tickets can be purchased this.

An online silent auction of non-seasonal items, including lanyards worn by faucet , gunman , Jack Christopher , and more, will be provided. A list of available silent auction items this. More items will be added.
