Big Apple supplier Foxconn said on Saturday that it was seeking cooperation in India in new areas such as chips and electric vehicles following a visit to the country by chairman Liu Young-way.

Apple has moved production out of China after the country’s strict Covid-19 restrictions disrupted production of new iPhone models and other devices, and amid tensions between Beijing and Washington.

Currently, iPhones are assembled in India by at least three of Apple’s global suppliers – Foxconn and Pegatron in Tamil Nadu and Wistron in Karnataka.
