SW-Motech Legend Gear LC2 side bag review | Gear
When I first bought my 2004 Harley‑Davidson Heritage Softail Classic, I felt like I was cheating a little when opening and closing the saddlebags. I didn’t bother using a traditional leather strap with a metal buckle, instead relying on the hidden quick-release plastic clips for much easier securing. Unfortunately, the clips started breaking, which isn’t bad considering they’re 20 years old, but without the clips, the locks wouldn’t have worked on their own.
My first stop for a replacement set was H‑D’s website, but there was only one saddlebag option for my bike, offering a total capacity of a little over 22 liters (compared to around 34 liters of bags). available from me).
On the other hand, SW‑Motech offers a wide range of motorcycle bags for almost every type of motorcycle. The company’s website makes it easy to search by brand and model, but they also have some options that aren’t model-specific. Capacity is important but I was also willing to try something functionally different, so I decided on the SW‑Motech Legend Gear LC2 side bag, which has a total capacity of 27 litres.

I really like the classic design of the LC2: a combination of Napalon synthetic leather and waxed fabric, the latter contributing to waterproofing – along with a hook-and-loop roll-top and included internal waterproof pocket. They’re smaller than my storage bag, but since I commute so often, I was happy to discover that I could still fit my laptop upright and have room to spare. And if I want to carry a little more, there are plenty of loops on the outside to attach the Legend Gear LA1 (0.8L, $24) or LA2 (1.2L, $48) accessory pouch.
However, what really attracts me about the SW-Motech Legend Gear LC2 side pockets is the quick release feature. I don’t always need luggage and I like the bike to look clean, without a windshield and bags when I’m riding around town.
The LC2’s quick-release attachment is made of fiberglass-reinforced polyamide and allows removal in just a few seconds, and when the bag is removed, the black tubular steel side support frame is barely visible. I also appreciate that when using the bags for travel, I can easily remove them upon arrival and carry them with me by grabbing the top strap or using the accessory LA4 shoulder strap ($36). .

Installing the SLC side rack mounting system is simple and takes less than 15 minutes. It is sold separately for $128 (model-specific prices may vary). The SW‑Motech Legend Gear LC2 side bag is available in Black or Black/Brown for $207 each.
