The US Supreme Court on Monday rejected an emergency attempt to block New York’s enforcement of a coronavirus vaccine authorization for healthcare workers.

The legal challenge was filed by a group of 20 doctors and nurses, who argued that the state’s vaccine mandate violates the First Amendment of the Constitution because it does not include religious immunity.

A request for an order was made to Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who was assigned to handle the cases from New York.

Judges Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch and Samuel Alito – three of the court’s six majority conservative members – said in order that they would accept bids to block the mandate.
