As the highest-priced one-year-old chick ever sold at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Yuesheng Zhang’s purchase of her also signals a bit of a return to the race for founder Yulong, who has invested heavily in the shrimp market. breeding stock in recent years, acquiring many of the world’s best breeding prospects, publicly available for tens of millions of dollars.

She was one of two million-dollar lots that changed hands on Wednesday, bringing the total to five in two days. Another big purchase of the day came late as Coolmore paid AU$1.6 million ($1,103,110) for a I am invincible ponies (Lot 417) out of group 1 winning horse fun.

Clint Donovan is behind the forum, conducting auctions of highly rated works Zoustar dirty (Lot 399) as if it were an orchestra amid the silence on the sidelines — like when Sunlight was sold as broodstock in 2020 for a record Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale of $4.2 million Australia ($2,979,431) and their dams Solar charging was knocked down for A$650,000 ($605,215) in 2014 to Widden Stud and David Redvers to support their then first season steed Zoustar.

Tony and Calvin McEvoy, who coached Sunlight to three of her group 1 wins, also ran a high-stakes game trying to buy the blue-blooded girl for AU$2 million (1,378. US$888), but to no avail.

The AU$2.6 million figure broke the previous Magic Millions annual revenue record of AU$2.2 million ($2,681,380), which doubled in 2008 during the spending period. Nathan Tinkler’s lavish spending under the Patinack Ranch banner and also matching the number paid for high fashionwho was sold at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in 2012.

Yulong’s chief executive officer, Sam Fairgray, said the chubby girl’s qualities and temperament convinced Zhang and the team during tests at the Gold Coast over the past week.

“Given her residual value she will be worth a lot of money and with the bounty in Australia and the way she walks and her physique, hopefully we’ll be here by the end of the year. this time next year (for Magic Millions 2YO Classic) and, obviously, races like the Golden Sandal,” said Fairgray.

“When you buy quality, you’ll always pay and… we were able to reach a girl with a great balance like this. She’s going to be great value no matter what she does.”

While the session head will take the place of pride, Fairgray has also signed five others so far this week.

“We’ve been building the broodmare band for the last couple of years and we’ve got a decent amount there (about 450) now, so we’re going to start bringing the team on and that’s about it,” said Fairgray. Exciting times ahead.”

She was sold in the last hour of Wednesday’s trading as Lot 399.

Widden Stud’s Antony Thompson is relieved that the dirty girl sale comes after “a huge construction process and a lot of media coverage”, but he is adamant that she deserves the level such prices and subsequent praise.

“From where we thought she was probably one of the best fat girls we’ve ever bred and I said, maybe, I don’t think we’ve ever seen a better girl in a round. auction in Australia this year or maybe even for a long time,” he said.

“We love to have very high expectations and we’d be disappointed if she didn’t sell well, but with that expectation, it exceeded ours!”

Coolmore Colts Adds My Invincible Son to Team
For Coolmore and their group of ponies partnership advocates, the equation is simple: drill for oil where it has been found before.

And that’s exactly what Tom Magnier, surrounded by coach Chris Waller and agent Guy Mulcaster, did late on Wednesday by spending AU$1.6 million on Cressfield and Robrick Lodge do I Am Invincible bred and sold, Coolmore’s 1st dual group male -sprint winner and first season boar internal affairs.

The latest acquisition of the Coolmore-led partnership is Spright’s second pony, a mare Bruce Neill purchased at the end of her racing career, the first foal, a 2 year old pony, belongs to Zoustar.

“(Cressfield) are great supporters of the farm and for us we are looking for the next Home Office,” Magnier said.

“I Am Invincible was an unbelievable stallion. It was the pedigree of a real stallion, and the team thought it was a standout on the field; we were delighted to have the foal. This is for our association.

“You saw his quality when he came in, and he’s a very nice horse and he has a pedigree.”

Magnier’s belief is also supported by Home Affairs actions in the breeding barn last spring, with many of Australia’s top breeders assisting the stallion during its first season at the stud.

He said: “The Home Office has had a great season. He’s had great success at the stud. He’s had a very good season and has many mares – over 160 mares.

“Obviously we’re very pleased with how the season is going. We’ll find someone else with this guy.”
