Starting lineup:

GUARD
TBD
What to see: Terry Francona said the Guardians’ hope throughout Game 3 is to put the Yankees in a position where they have to use their primary painkiller while also being able to avoid using their key firefighters such as Emmanuel Clase, James Karinchak and Trevor Stephan. Complete mission. Now the Guardians will be knocked out at home with a cowshed resting in front of a crowd that promises to be even louder than Saturday, and it’s been a terrible Saturday. For New York, the main thing that could make the spotlight on Aaron Boone fade a bit is for Gerrit Cole to show up and dominate deep in Game 4. – Bradford Doolittle
Guess:
Joon Lee: Yankees 5-2. Cole arrived with the Yankees on the mound as New York forced a game 5 deciding to return to the Bronx.
Alden Gonzalez: Yankees 4-1. Cole has thrown the ball well against the Guardians this season, giving up just three times in 19 innings through three starts, including Game 1 of this series. That will continue with the Yankees’ season in Game 4.
Bradford Doolittle: Defender 3-1. The Yankees are Gulliver and the Guardians are Lilliputians – and if I remember the story correctly, the Lilliputians did a pretty good job of protecting Gulliver. Also, the Guardian’s barn is rested and ready to close this thing.
Jeff Passan: Yankees 3, Guardians 2. Cal Quantrill has never lost a game at Progressive Field, but the Yankees, behind another great pitching display from Gerrit Cole, won the game and forced a decisive game 5 on Wednesday. Two at Yankee Stadium.
