With heavy hearts, we report the death of legendary stunt driver Chris Pfeiffer, who passed away over the weekend. Speedweek is reporting that the 51-year-old icon’s body was found after he took his own life, ending a severe depression lasting months.
A legend in the stunt racing community, Pfeiffer has won multiple world championships in motorcycle stunts and brought the niche extreme sport to the attention of the community through his close relationship his close ties with BMW Motorrad and Red Bull.
His performances have pushed the boundaries of what can be done on two wheels, paving the way for countless stunts in the sport today, and reaching countless fans all over the world. Really impressive man.
Pfeiffer is also a successful racer, with racing highlights including winning the Erzberg Rodeo in 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2004 – one of the most grueling one-day events in motorsport .
Even though he retired in 2015, the German’s more than 20-year career has left its mark on the motorcycle industry, and his departure will leave a void in our hearts. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.
Chris’ funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. on March 26, in Trauchgau, Germany. Anyone wishing to bid him farewell is welcome to attend.
