Ghibli Park, a theme park inspired by the works of legendary anime studio Ghibli, will open on November 1, 2022 in Japan. The Aichi Tourism Bureau also used this occasion to promote tourism to this area. It shared a promotional video.
The four-minute trailer titled “Playing with the Wind” shows areas in Aichi. It ends with a visit to Satsuki and Mei’s House. The house is an attraction in Ghibli Park, simulating the whereabouts of two characters Satsuki and Mei. They appeared in Ghibli movies Totoro my neighbor.
Located within Aichi’s Expo Memorial Park, the attractions in Ghibli Park will recreate iconic locations from the studio’s film portfolio. On opening day, three of the zones are scheduled to be opened to the public: Ghibli’s Giant Warehouse, the Hills of Youth, and the Dondoko Forest. The huge warehouse was built from a former public swimming pool. It is an indoor area with shops, exhibition space and a patterned dining area of the town area from Soul land. The Hill of Youth will be the entrance to the park. It will contain a copy of the antique shop from The deep voice of the heart boy. Dondoko Forest recreates the rural landscape of Totoro my neighbor. It contains Satsuki and Mei’s House. Development on Ghibli Park will resume on the last opening date. The end of 2023 will see the opening of the Mononoke Village and Wizarding Valley areas.
Ghibli Park will open in Japan on November 1, 2022, although the Studio Ghibli Museum in Tokyo will continue to operate. The studio’s movies are available on streaming services and through physical and online retailers. Its latest movie is Earwig and the Witch.
