I lost my 16 year old Himalayan. MacTabish, or “Mac”, is available on our Cat Rescue Website. I fell in love with him at first sight. He is a red loofah with perfect marks. He is one year old and disabled with special needs.

They found him in our local wild colony. He’s fat, clean, flea-free, in excellent condition. Mac wasn’t there the day before. They assumed he was missing because of a space shuttle shooting that happened the day before. He was probably scared, ran away and couldn’t be found. With special needs, he was extremely scared. He hid. You can’t touch his head. He needs a quiet home and lots of TLC. I feel so bad that he has gone from home, to the colony, to foster care, to the vet, to foster care. No wonder he was so scared.

I took him home, and he hid in a dark corner. I removed him, and he ran under the bed. I left water, food and a trash can nearby and waited. For several weeks, to give him the TLC, I had to get under the bed or sit on the floor and talk to him. He was so scared when I touched him.

My vet called after Mac arrived to ask me to pick up an old rag female doll he had tried on. I told him about the Mac. He says come get this little girl, he might just need a friend. I had Delilah, a little ALPHA, and within a week she and Mac were playing together. It took three months before I was able to touch him without him cowering or running away. One day, he jumped on the couch next to me, and I knew we had a big break.

He is 10 years old now and has three friends to play with. He is the cutest companion cat in the house. He was with me all the time, sleeping beside me, bringing me toys, talking to me, watching me and letting me groom, wash and clip my nails without fuss. He was wonderful. If I had to choose only one of my cats, Mac would be it.
