Sony disables PlayStation Plus stacking before its big overhaul
However, the coupon code will still be valid
Sony is gearing up to launch its modified PlayStation Plus system. But before it does, some transition work that means PlayStation Plus membership tiering is on hold.
In an update to it Frequently asked questions (Thanks, Eurogamer) Sony confirmed that it is blocking “stacking” of PlayStation Plus memberships until PlayStation Plus Premium released in June. Here is the updated text:
“As we prepare to launch the new PlayStation Plus membership service, we are doing some behind-the-scenes work to make the transition as smooth as possible for all existing members. ours. As part of this work, we’ve temporarily disabled cumulative membership for existing customers until after launch. Rest assured that your coupon code is still valid and you’ll be able to redeem it when your current membership expires and stops working, or after the new PlayStation Plus service launches in your region , whichever occurs first. ”
As Sony notes, the code will remain valid. And if your Plus runs out, you’ll be able to use the code to back it up. It’s extra time on top, or stacking, that’s on hold.
Stack on Stack
Stacking is a big deal, as users have noted that subscribers to both PlayStation Plus and Now are being upgraded to Premium. Some reports on people using the Current subscription like a holeto increase some premium months cheaper.
With this update, the vulnerability seems to have been closed. This isn’t too helpful, as the conversion charts for the new PlayStation Plus to Plus are a bit confusing right now. See below, via Wario64:

However, some users have managed to build sizable legacy registries in some way. The question now is what Sony will do for all those Premium subscribers. Some IDs detected in PlayStation backend indicating certain titles was prepared for the launch in June.
