Coming to you from Dave Morrow, this great video tutorial will show you some helpful tips for long exposure in landscape photography. A long exposure can be a great way to take away water (or clouds) that are too busy or chaotic and reduce them to smooth and silky bands of clouds that render footage in a way invisible to the naked eye. One thing that I think is particularly clever in this video is the way Morrow uses them to create lead lines. The calm water is already visually interesting and capable of capturing the viewer’s attention, and increasing the clarity of the river’s flow through the use of long exposures allowed him to create creates a much stronger path through the image and gives a nice sense of balance. Check out the video above for the full synopsis from Morrow.
