Slew’s Tiz Whiz Collars Papa’s Golden Boy in Longacres


Slew’s Tiz Whiz under Jose Zunino collared Daddy’s Golden Boy in the final steps to score a 3/4 length win in a $150,000 Longacres Mile Stakes match on Aug. Emerald Downs.

Breaking through from the inside, Slew’s Tiz Whiz ran mid-round while Papa’s Golden Boy led with odds: 22.70, :45.17 and 1:08.97.

Papa’s Golden Boy has had a three-length advantage in the past, but Slew’s Tiz Whiz pulled the horse into the final, sweeping through Authority at the top and then run by the leader to win the seven lap race in 1:21.56 on the fast track.

Five Star General completed the trilogy.

Slew’s Tiz Whiz paid $8.80, improving his record to 6-1-1 from 13 starts and increasing his earnings to $170,707 for KD Thoroughbreds.

“We had a bit of luck going into the first leg, but everything went great,” said Zunino. “He wants to go to the extreme, so I let him go, he is the best.”

Slew’s Tiz Whiz won three in a row, scoring six bonuses and six Governor 1/2 bonuses, where he also caught Papa’s Golden Boy late.
