Mike Tyson Offers His Latest Thoughts On Usyk-Joshua 2: “He’s Outperformed Him”
Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has once again voiced his opinion about the upcoming Oleksandr Usyk-Anthony Joshua rematch.
Usyk, the undisputed former cruiser champion, convincingly defeated Joshua last September to win the WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
The two meet again in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this Saturday – in what is undoubtedly the most important match of Joshua’s career to date.
Mike Tyson knows a thing or two about career-defining fights, winning his first 19 fights by knockout before winning his first world championship at age 20 when he knocked Trevor Berbick two rounds in 1986. That victory made him the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title, a record that still stands.
While on a Live on Instagram with Mario Lopez‘Iron’ Mike once again talks about the fight and feels that AJ has an extremely difficult night ahead as he tries to become a three-time heavyweight champion:
“It will be difficult to defeat him
“It will be difficult to beat Usyk because he is fast and he punched Joshua with his stab.
“Joshua has to learn how to deal with the stab.
“They’re the only things he can’t handle, he can’t handle his stab and his movements.”
As many have commented, the former ‘World’s Ugliest Man’ goes on to suggest that Joshua needs to be constantly pressurized in the rematch:
“He is too fast for Joshua.
“Joshua had to put a lot of pressure on and stay on guard throughout the night.
“He’s a strong puncher, but he’s not exactly that – you have to be precise against a guy like that.
“Because he moves a lot, jab is educated and he’s just better than he is.”
Joshua brought in Robert Garcia to join Angel Fernandez in his corner, with many expecting that new relationship to yield a stronger ‘AJ’ on Saturday.
