SkySports looks to be closing in on a deal for Anthony Joshua’s UK TV rights as Brit moves closer to a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.
With many top broadcasters, including DAZN, SkySports and Amazon looking to land the heavyweight superstar’s lucrative signature, it looks like SkySports, who ended up 5 deals with Joshua, is now the winner. head to secure the rights to broadcast his battles again, according to Chris McKenna.
After signing a promotional deal that covers the rest of his career with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, who currently only appear exclusively on DAZN, it is expected that the Watford-born player could switched to the platform, especially as they launched a new pay-per-view arm to the streaming service.
However, with SkySports already covering every ‘AJ’ professional match, it is believed the former unified champion looks set to keep the brand intact.
Talk to Boxing Social, Head of Boxing at SkySports Adam Smith shared his confidence that the former unified heavyweight champion will stick with SkySports:
“We don’t have a contract with Anthony Joshua right now, so, you know, we’re out of contract as you know. I am very confident that [A deal] It will happen at the right time and we will work with him.”
