Skoda Enyaq EV confirmed to arrive in Australia – from the end of 2023


Skoda finally confirmed the plan to bring in full Enyaq iV . electric scooter in Australia, but production shortages mean it won’t be ready to start taking orders until the second half of 2023.

Based on the current timeline, deliveries probably won’t begin until 2024.

Both the usual SUV and coupe-crossover body styles are coming to Australia, serving as the first electric cars in the Czech brand’s local range.

Having just received the sign-in, Skoda Australia said it has not yet been able to determine the market price, supply status or manner of/sales channel it will choose to use for Enyaq.

Skoda becomes the third Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) brand to reveal the following electric vehicle strategy Audi and new-kid-on-the-block Cupra – ahead of Volkswagen itself, although the local Volkswagen branch is expected to have an ID-related announcement soon.

“We definitely have an EV strategy,” said Skoda Australia head of sales Kieran Merrigan this week.

“What I can confirm is that Enyaq has [just] approved for our market and we will start taking orders next year. “

VGA brands, to a greater and lesser extent, both face challenges securing European electric vehicle distribution to the far-flung Australian market, although the rapid growth in the use of electric vehicles here.

Production levels remain below demand and the Group prioritizes allocating limited supplies of battery vehicles to countries with penalties for brands that exceed average CO2 emissions across the fleet, such as explained to us by the CEO of VGA Paul Sansom.

“[A federal CO2 target on car brands] really the important question, if we don’t have that rule in the market, will they prioritize the markets that do, to avoid very heavy fines. It really changes the game completely, and it will almost change the game overnight if we get the [here]’ said Mr. Sansom.

The Enyaq iV is based on Volkswagen’s popular MEB electric architecture and comes with two battery options, along with rear- or all-wheel drive. The Enyaq coupe will also have an RS guise with a power output of 220kW.
