Sigma announced 16–28mm f/2.8 DG DN . wide-angle zoom for Sony E-mount and Leica L-Mount. Like the company’s wider 14–24mm f/2.8 DG DN lens, the new lens features internal focus and zoom, making it potentially well-suited for underwater use. Designed for full-frame, this lens can also be used on APS-C bodies, equivalent to a 24–42mm f/4.2.
Part of Sigma’s more affordable “Contemporary” lineup, the 16–28mm f/2.8 lens weighs 15.9 oz and is just 4 inches long and 3 inches in diameter. The lens features nine circular aperture blades and includes 16 elements in 11 groups, including four aspherical elements. The minimum focusing distance is 9.9″ (25cm) and the front filter diameter is 72mm.
Available from late June, the Sigma 16–28mm f/2.8 DG DN will have a suggested price of $900.
