Samyang’s new 35-150mm f/2-2.8 lens is creating buzz

It would be hard for us to find a photographer who is not familiar with the big brands tamron And sigma offers lower priced lenses to compete with designs offered by the giants: classic, Nikon, sony, and more. This week, there have been rumors in the subclasses of photography websites about an upcoming new lens: the Samyang 35-150mm f/2-2.8. Let’s dig into this.

In the history of photography in general, Samyang is a newer player in the game. Celebrating its 50th anniversary last year, the Korean brand aims to create high-quality lenses at even lower prices than other third-party options. Their latest design, the 35-150mm, has been a hit online, with comments ranging from excitement to questions about the design.

One writer commented: “[It’s] just an improved Tamron with a difference in the body. Same specs but a bit heavier.” Another added: “This is significantly cheaper. If its build quality is the same, then it makes Tamron money.”

Tom Calton provided an in-depth comparison of the two lenses and the results surprised me.

Priced at $600 less than the Tamron version, this lens is sure to shake things up. Have you used Samyang lenses before? So far, I’m still a loyal Canon girl. They just always do it right in my book. Color. Sharpness. Center. Everything. Since being hired at Fstoppers over a year ago, I’ve had to experiment and review brands I’ve never considered using before. Most of the time, I’m surprisingly impressed. Am I ready to switch to Samyang? Maybe not yet, but I can say that having more brands in the space really seems to be making great lenses at a more reasonable price point. What is your opinion? Drop them below.
