NEWS recorded Ryan Garcia performing his best Muhammad Ali act, thwarting it while mocking potential (let’s hope) April 15 opponent Gervonta “Tank” Davis. “Take that boy down,” Garcia told fans and reporters. “Go to sleep honey. Go away.” Garcia then continued his words as he prepared to get in the car. Hide behind Al Haymon. Wake up. I’m scary. Give your fans what they want. Stop running!”
Garcia proceeded to resolve rematch issues that allegedly delayed the fight contract between him and Davis from actually being signed. “Fight this, rematch (that),” Garcia said. “Raise the rematch! I want you! Don’t hide anymore! Give your fans what they want. Tired of your running. Come after you. Been chasing you. Go to sleep!” Garcia continued to address what would happen in the ring between him and Davis. “It won’t be anywhere near. Nothing will happen but I knock this man down,” he said. In fact, the whole talk is a world-class talk, one that gets fans excited for a fight.
“Where are you Gervonta?” Davis shouted from the waiting car. “Nowhere can it be heard. Scared. Hide behind his small posture. I don’t hide behind anyone. In fact, Garcia and Davis have completely different personalities. Davis tends to be quiet while Garcia likes to be loud. However, what the two men have in common is their enormous popularity, undefeated record, and terrifying knockdown power. It’s not that Garcia was particularly impressed with Davis. “If he’s a tank, then I’m an RPG,” he said. “Stop running, tank.” If a real deal is signed, Garcia-Davis will likely be the biggest boxing match ever, pitting two exciting, young athletes against each other and bringing together a new generation of prominent boxers.
