George Kambosos said of the light king Teofimo Lopez: “He had a lot of nervous energy and fear. “His dad has been put in his place, he knows we’re not kidding, we’re here ready to fight, ready for war, and he clamps his tail between his legs and that’s it. is what happens on Saturday night.” Kambosos is referring to an incident between his father and Lopez’s father on Tuesday during a media workout. With Kambosos and Lopez set to fight for Lopez’s title this Saturday, tensions are clearly high. “If they want to take it, my dad is here too,” Kambosos said of the Lopez team.
“We’ve all seen it,” said the undefeated Australian, “what can you do? He (Lopez’s dad) is lucky my dad didn’t actually open up, otherwise he wouldn’t be in his corner on Saturday. If Eddie Hearn and Matchroom paid enough for the old men to go to work, maybe we’ll see! However, Kambosos made it clear that his sights were on Lopez. “He came to KO me early?” He asks. “No problem. That’s what I want to do. However, winning means the whole world, all the sacrifices and hard work I’ve had to make, that’s what will make this happen. so special. It’s for my kids and the people around me, belts are for them.”
As far as Kambosos is concerned, Lopez was not focused enough on Saturday night. “I’m not thinking about what’s next,” he said. “Ask Lopez, he thinks a million steps ahead. I just focus on him. We’ll see if Josh Taylor gives him a match where he doesn’t have any belts and loses to Aussie. Simply put, Kambosos feels he is well prepared to face Lopez on Saturday.
“I have a very smart team and I am very smart in what I do,” he said. “This isn’t my first game, I’ve been in big fights, I’ve earned this the hard way. But we were ready, and we were smart, and the preparation was very good; no matter of exhaustion or weight, nothing, no emotions, just come here to win the fight and be a real champion. ”
While Kambosos appeared confident, few said they thought he would leave the ring this Saturday night for beating Lopez. Undoubtedly, a Kambosos victory this weekend will shake up the fighting world. Just don’t expect Kambosos to be surprised if he scores the unfortunate goal.
