Boxing Insider reported on Monday that the Ryan Garcia-Javier Fortuna battle will likely take place on July 16 in Los Angeles. Now that fight is officially a done deal (though there is currently no named location). The two are said to have faced off against each other once before, but Garcia has stepped out of the fighting game a bit. However, now the popular lightweight version is back and the showdown with Fortuna continues.

“If there is any doubt, I hesitated to fight Fortuna a year ago,” Garcia said, “all will be clear after our battle.” Garcia went on to say he wants to face Fortuna all the time. “This is the fight I want,” he said, “and now is the time. I am very grateful to my friends, family and especially the fans who have supported me. I have never felt better, stronger and more motivated. It is time to silence all doubts”.

Garcia 22-0 is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in boxing. Strong, flashy, undefeated, and hugely popular on social media, Garcia seems like an all-rounder. Fans are looking for him to take on a top-notch opponent, and Garcia has made it clear via Twitter that he’s eager to take on WBA lightweight Gervonta Davis in December.

For now, however, Garcia will have to focus his sights on 37-3-1 Fortuna. Now, under the guidance of highly regarded coach Joe Goosen, Garcia is looking to grow his game as he rises through the ranks of the sport. As for Fortuna, this is an opportunity of a lifetime. He’s not lazy, Fortuna. At the age of 33, this man is a former world player. He got lost a few times, but he didn’t go for a walk in the park.

“This is going to be a very interesting fight,” said Fortuna. “I know it didn’t happen last year as originally announced but I hope that this time it will happen so that I can give a good show to the public.” Needless to say, Fortuna is confident that she can win against the sly young stars. “I feel very happy with the work I am doing with Sampson, my promoter, who has trusted me since the beginning of my career,” he said. “I will be 100% prepared to win my fight. I trust my team more than ever and have complete confidence in the coach Belvin García, who I consider my family. Together and with God at my side, I know we will hold our hands up in victory in the night of battle.”

The Garcia-Fortuna Battle will be streamed live on the DAZN streaming service.
